Our Mission

To empower the orphans and vulnerable children of Kisumu, Kenya to live, learn and thrive by providing food, shelter and education at the stable environment of the Korando Center.

What We Do

In Kenya, while public school education is free of charge, individual families are required to cover school fees, uniform, and supply costs.  This requirement is an impediment to disadvantaged students attending school.  The Korando Education Center is currently the only school providing an education at no cost for impoverished children in Kisumu. In 2007, Ripple Effect Project was created to partner with the KEC to support this unique mission.Every donation to Ripple Effect Project supports the educational and nutritional needs of these deserving students. Presently, over 330 students attend the KEC from preschool through Grade 9. More than 100 of those students board on the school property in dormitories, and the remainder commute as day students. The students who graduate from KEC are given the support to continue in their high school and college education. In addition, Ripple Effect Project helps to fund related expenses for the teaching staff, student activities and maintenance of the property.
