Bramwel Deefer Otieno

  Bramwel is living with the grandmother after the father died in 2007. He has one brother and two sisters. The mother helps with teaching nursery school children here she earns $20 a month and is unable to keep the family without help let alone taking them to school.  The mother is also HIV+ which is what killed the father and also the younger sister is also infected.  She is therefore going through many challenges with lots of illness.

They have a mud wall and tinned roof at home where he sleeps on a matt on the floor.

At home, they eat kales and ugali which is made from cornmeal mainly and occasionally small fish called omena as protein.  They also take strong tea or black tea for breakfast.

He helps with cooking and fetching water after school and also graze the cows.

My School: In form three at Kajulu secondary school My Home: He comes from Seme near a legendry rock, a tourist attraction point called Kit Mikayi Rock.  The area is rocky and hilly and also very dry. It is also near the lake and they draw water from the lake which these days is very dirty and therefore people suffer from lots of stomach problems.
